Who are we?
Lloyd James BSc. (Hons) MRICS FAAV – Managing Director
Lloyd is an experienced estate manager and qualified Chartered Surveyor (2005) having previously worked with both regional and national firms in Bath, Sussex and West Wales before establishing Lloyd James Land & Estate Management in 2013. Lloyd joined the Partnership of Owen & Owen in July 2015 becoming Managing Director of Owen & Owen Limited in April 2019.
Lloyd graduated from the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, with a 2:1 Honours degree in Rural Land Management in 1999 and was recipient of the Arthur Jones Medal in 1999. A Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers, Lloyd is an estate management specialist dealing mainly with Rural Landed Estates, Leisure and Commercial Property portfolios. Lloyd advises estates, farms and leisure companies on land management strategy and planning for the future.
Lloyd is a member of the Wales Group for the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) and is a past President of the South Wales and Monmouthshire Agricultural Valuers Association. He is currently President and past Chair for the Dyfed Committee for the Country Land & Business Association (CLA) and sits on the Polisi Cymru Committee for CLA Wales.
Outside of work, Lloyd spends what little spare time there is helping to tend the grounds at Whitland Cricket Club.
Lloyd will often be accompanied in the office and out on estate by one or more of his dogs, Pickle the English springer spaniel and Dougal, his border terrier.
Lucy Luke LLB (Hons) – Associate
Lucy is a qualified Solicitor, who has practised for over 10 years specialising in commercial and agricultural property. Lucy graduated from Swansea University with a 2:1 Honours Degree in Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and then the College of Law, Birmingham with distinction.
Highly respected in her field, Lucy is an effective and experienced commercial property and rural land specialist. Dealing mainly with property management, Lucy acts as our in house legal expert. She provides a wealth of knowledge to our in house team and to clients alike.
Lucy is the Estate Manager and lead for a number of our estate management clients as well as dealing with consultancy clients. Dealing with all aspects of management, especially contract matters and rent review work.
Lucy originates from Pembrokeshire and lives on a farm with her husband and two sons. Outside of work, Lucy enjoys a variety of outdoor and country pursuits and is an accomplished horsewoman, hockey player and cricketer for Burton CC.
Dylan Johns – Graduate Surveyor
Dylan Johns joined us in July 2024 as a graduate surveyor. Dylan is on a pathway to qualify as a Rural Practise Chartered Surveyor. A native of Gumfreston, Tenby, Dylan has been studying Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams University.
Having spent a year in industry with a national firm, we are delighted to have secured Dylan’s services and bring him back to Pembrokeshire. Dylan assists both Lloyd and Lucy with day to day Estate Management work.
Alastair Edwards BSc Hons (Est Man) – Consultant
Alastair is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, having qualified in 2006, and is a RICS Registered Valuer. A graduate of the University of South Wales with a 2:1 in Estate Management Surveying.
Alastair’s areas of expertise include residential mortgage valuations and RICS Home Survey Standard (previously called Home Condition and Home Buyer Reports) in Pembrokeshire as well as general valuation work. An expert in Landlord & Tenant negotiations with telecoms operators and utilities providers on behalf of landowners and farmers Alastair has extensive experience in this field. As well as this Alastair deals with assisting the estate management team on general projects.
He has recently obtained his Operational Authorisation from the CAA to undertake Aerial, Mapping and Thermal Surveys using a UAV / Drone and its high definition camera to inspect land, property, and infrastructure.
A former hockey player and cricketer, Alastair can be found growing vegetables in the garden outside of work.
Alex Lockton BSc – Consultant
Alex has over 15 years’ experience delivering renewable energy and zero carbon technology including work for some of the most prestigious clients in the country. His experience has included senior roles with British Gas and T H WHITE, consultancy with Good Energy and as well as running his own business in this time.
Alex has extensive experience in construction, CDM and EPC contracting involving the design, installation and maintenance of a wide range of technology including Solar PV, Solar Thermal, all Heat Pumps, Biomass heating, district heating, Wind Power, Battery Storage, Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure.
Alex advises clients and their representatives in the private and public sector and in the commercial and agricultural space. The types of services he offers include strategic advice and feasibility studies, procurement, project management, connections to funding solutions and grant sources and access to some of the best brands in zero carbon technology the market has to offer.
Alex is the Managing Director of RenewEV who Owen & Owen have worked with extensively to provide technical and commercial agents services for landowner clients, negotiating long term energy development deals with commercial developers.
Clare Morgan BSc(Hons) MRICS FAAV – Consultant
A graduate of Harper Adams with a BSc (Hons) degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management (1997) and Nuffield Scholar (2002) Clare is an experienced Chartered Surveyor and agricultural valuer. A former NFU Wales Woman Farmer of the Year, 2022, Clare is well known in the farming and rural community of West Wales. Clare joins our team as a consultant advising clients on estate management, farming and property.
Clare is currently Pembrokeshire NFU Council delegate and former NFU Cymru Poultry Group Chair and former NFU County Chair 2019-2021.
Clare farms in partnership with her husband, Stephen, at Fenton Home Farm, Crundale near Haverfordwest. They farm 400 acres consisting of free-range hens, cattle, breeding ewes and some arable cropping. Over the last 20 years they have converted their traditional stone barns into assured short hold rental properties and in the last four years as holiday cottages. The farm also has a renewable energy diversification in the form of a solar park and biomass boiler.
Clare brings with her a wealth of practical experience both in providing pragmatic advice, but also from her real world experience from her own business interests.
Sarah McKnight – Accounts Administrator
Sarah is an experienced office accounts administrator having previously worked for Prudential and then Jardine Lloyd Thompson in Reading, leaving as an Administration Team Leader. After a career break to raise a family, Sarah joined Owen & Owen in 2014. She is responsible for the administration of both the Firm’s and Client accounts.

Angela James – Accounts Administrator
Having previously worked for the Department of Work and Pensions as an Accounts Officer, Angela took a ten-year career break to raise her family. Having returned to work she took up the role of Finance Officer in a Pembrokeshire School for 10 years and joined Owen & Owen in 2023. Angela’s main focus is on Firm’s accounting.

Dawn Jarrett – Secretary
Dawn has worked with Owen & Owen for many years and is an experienced secretary and PA. Over her time with the business, Dawn has built up a wealth of knowledge of our let portfolio and day to day deals with scheduling work and contact with contractors and tenants. As well as this Dawn supports Lucy in her day to day work load.
Outside of work, Dawn is a fitness instructor.
Elaine Williams – Secretary
Elaine joined Owen & Owen in 2016 having worked for many years as a legal secretary. Supporting Lloyd in his work, Elaine is also the administrator for the management of the West Angle Bay Caravan Park, Angle.
Emma James – Office Manager
Emma joined Owen & Owen in 2018 to take on the new role of Office Manager. Dealing with compliance, HR, office administration and providing additional admin support, Emma is an experienced Office Administrator. Prior to joining Owen & Owen, Emma previously undertook similar roles for Wales’ only Equine Veterinary Hospital, Cotts Equine in Narberth, and previous to that at Arundel Equine Hospital, in Arundel, West Sussex.
Emma studied Horse Management at Brinsbury Agricultural College as well as obtaining the National Certificate in Farm Secretary, also at Brinsbury.
An accomplished horse rider having competed at side saddle, Emma is also a qualified riding instructor.
Dougal – Head of Security
Dougal the Border Terrier takes his role as Head of Security very seriously, when he can be motivated to come to work that is… He takes a keen interest in all who visit and those who pass by our office. A professional sleeper and snoozer, Dougal is still a capable security expert, although now he is officially an #OAPBorder.
Pickle – Head of Sporting
Pickle the English Springer Spaniel, is Head of our Sporting Department and is an enthusiastic, if sometimes over excitable gun dog. Her interests are in retrieving and generally in being a good girl. She takes the lead in enthusiastic visitor welcoming.
She is always with Lloyd, both in the office, out on visits, in the field, and is an ever present member of the team.
